ID cards will no longer be accepted for travel to the UK as of 1 October 2021

Please note that as of 1 October 2021, the EU ID cards will no longer be accepted as a valid travel document for entry to the UK. Therefor most EU, EEA and Swiss citizens will only be able to travel to the UK using a valid passport. If EU, EEA and Swiss citizens do not have a passport from 1 October, they are liable to be refused entry to the UK.

  • Pre-departure email (see below): YES, will be sent to customers travelling from HEL to the UK during 24SEP-24OCT21 "Please note that as of 1 October 2021, the EU ID card will no longer be accepted as a valid travel document for entry to the UK."
