Restrictions on Liquids in Carry-On Baggage

Canadian and U.S. origin OK (if purchased post screening); if purchased pre-screening or from outside Canada and U.S. must be placed in checked baggage.

EU

100 ml (3,3oz) containers packed in a 1 litre (1 qt) transparent re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.


Within EU (post-screening) or onboard EU registered air carriers only (if purchased pre-screening in EU or onboard EU-carrier must be packed in a sealed, tamper evident plastic bag with an appropriate receipt); purchases made outside of EU or onboard non-EU carriers not allowed.

Hong Kong

100 ml (3,3oz) containers packed in a 1 litre (1 qt) transparent, re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.

Purchases made at Canadian, EU, U.S. and a few other airports can be carried onboard a flight departing from HKIA provided they are packed in a sealed, tamper evident plastic bag with an appropriate receipt. Items purchased onboard any aircraft which previous airport of call is mentioned on a separate ‘approved airports’-list issued by HKG-authorities (the list includes HEL) can be carried on a flight departing HKIA if the items are packed as mentioned above.

India

Indian origin OK when delivered to passengers/crew at the gate.

Japan

100 ml (3,3oz) containers packed in a 1 litre (1 qt) transparent re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.

Items purchased beyond the security screening points at Japanese airports are accepted onboard flights departing from Japan

People’s Rep. of China

100 ml (3,3oz) containers packed in a 1 litre (1 qt) transparent, re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.


On domestic flights within China the liquid restriction is 1 litre (not 100ml) and no plastic bags are required. Alcohol is however forbidden in the carry-on baggage on domestic flights and must be placed in the checked-in baggage.


Items purchased beyond the security screening points at airports in China are accepted onboard flights departing from China

PEK - international to international flight connections;

Duty free items purchased beyond the security screening points at airport terminal duty free shops outside of China or on board incoming flights must be packed in a sealed, transparent plastic bag with an appropriate receipt and shall be presented separately at the security screening.

CAN/PVG - all flight connections;

No transfer service available due to customs restrictions, all passengers with onward flights have to re-check in their baggage incl. any liquids of more than 100ml.

Alcohol (wine/liquor) is forbidden in carry-on baggage on domestic flights in China, and must be placed in the checked-in baggage.

Thailand

100 ml (3,3oz) containers packed in a 1 litre (1 qt) transparent re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.

Duty free items purchased at BKK airport, as well as at other airports or onboard incoming carriers can be carried onboard a flight departing from BKK (or other airports in Thailand) provided they are packed in a sealed, tamper evident plastic bag with a receipt clearly displayed inside the bag. The date of purchase indicated on the receipt shall coincide with the day of travel.

USA

90 ml (3oz) per container packed in a 1 litre

(1 qt) transparent re-sealable plastic bag. 1 transparent plastic bag per passenger. The plastic bag must be presented separately at the security control.

Quantity restrictions apply to all inbound flights as well.

Will accept EU quantity limit of 100 ml (3.3oz)

U.S. and Canadian origin OK (if purchased post screening); if purchased pre-screening or from outside U.S. and Canada must be placed in checked baggage.

Medication, baby food, special dietary items (in liquid, aerosol or gel format) may normally be carried in addition to the 1litre plastic bags mentioned in the table above. These items shall be packed separately and only in amounts sufficient for the complete journey. Doctors’ prescriptions must accompany any medication and special dietary items. Baby food may have to be sampled in front of the security screening personnel. All medication, baby food and special dietary items shall be presented separately at the security screening points.

NOTE! Security restrictions on liquids in carry-on baggage may apply in other countries as well and shall be followed locally. Take note that the above table will at all times include only AY scheduled traffic destination countries.
