Changes in Finnair traffic plan for summer 2022
We have updated our traffic program for summer 2022, as the closure of the Russian airspace impacts Finnair’s Asian traffic.
Most of the changes will impact the frequencies and offered destinations in Asia but as the Asian network will be significantly smaller than previously planned, we also need to do adjustments to our European network.
All the schedule changes and cancellations are expected to be processed to the PNRs during Thursday 24th of March.
Please read the following instructions carefully. At the end of this article you can find a list of affected destinations with more information about the change.

IF A FLIGHT IS CANCELLED AND THE DESTINATION WILL NOT BE OPERATED AT ALL: | Full (or partial) refund is the only offered option, no rebooking to other destination or to other airline is allowed. |
BOOKINGS WITH CONNECTING FLIGHTS NOT IN SYNC WITH NEW SCHEDULE: | We have tried to keep all the connections which are on the same ticket but there might be cases where it is not possible to offer a smooth connection with the changed schedule. Among our long-haul passengers we have identified some onward connections to beyond-destinations which we want to highlight. Please observe the following guidelines for rebooking the onward journey operated by another airline. These guidelines apply to 105-documents (in case ticket is issued on another airline’s ticket stock, please contact respective airline for further guidelines). Australia: rebooking to original carriers and destinations only, or full refund |
FLIGHTS TO/FROM NORTH AMERICA (ATLANTIC JOINT BUSINESS ROUTES): | There are no significant changes expected to flight schedules to/from North America. If customer still needs to change their flights, follow the flexible "Book with confidence" guidelines, valid for all tickets purchased until 31MAY (rebook to any of the AJB carriers allowed, AA/AY/BA/IB). |
TO FARES: | These same rules apply also to individual Tour Operator bookings using TO fares, but they do not apply to Aurinkomatkat/Suntours, other tour operators’ customers. |
GROUP BOOKINGS: | Non-ticketed group bookings: rebooking only on original route for alternative travel dates, no rebooking for other airlines allowed. If flight is cancelled and no alternative option is available but deposit is already paid, full deposit refund is allowed (even if only one flight in the itinerary has been cancelled). |
WAIVER CODE: | Separate waiver code is not needed; the SSR INVOL element in the booking acts as your waiver. Please follow the instructions on this page, you do not have to call us for extra authorization if you need to rebook customer to another date or if customer asks for a refund. |
OS ELEMENT: | If you rebook or cancel, the following OS element must be entered in the booking.

ANCILLARIES: | Due to the schedule/flight change, unfortunately we might not be able to confirm some of the pre-purchased or pre-booked travel extras such as meals or pet transportation to the new flights. Check the PNR and if ancillary SSR is returned as UN, process the EMD refund via BSPlink refund application. Note that for EMDs only display access is allowed. |
VOLUNTARY CHANGES: | Our flexible "Book with confidence" policy applies for all voluntary changes on the same route for tickets purchased until 31MAY. Read more on our Covid-19 page. For other voluntary changes or cancellations, ticketed fare rules apply. If customer has purchased ancillaries, please follow the normal EMD change procedure to change the ancillaries to the new flights. |
