We resume flights to Tokyo, Narita with four weekly frequencies and new routing

News

As of 9 March, 2022, we fly to Tokyo Narita airport four times a week out of Helsinki, avoiding the Russian airspace. The flight time is approximately 13 hours and the flights connect smoothly to Finnair’s European network via its home hub Helsinki Airport.

We fly from Helsinki to Tokyo Narita four times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, departing at 17.30 local time. The Tokyo-Helsinki route is operated on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays departing at 22.40 local time. The flights are now available in GDS and at Finnair.com.

Earlier this week we cancelled our flights to China, Japan and South Korea until March 6, 2022. We continue flying from Helsinki to Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore and Delhi and from Stockholm Arlanda to Phuket. We will avoid using the Russian airspace which lengthens the travel time by some hours depending on the route and for example the weather conditions. We have our normal meal service on these flights, and due to the longer travel time, we recommend passengers also take some snacks with them.

We continue to evaluate possible alternative routings for our flights to China and South Korea and will communicate on these as soon as the plans are finalized.

We are changing the flight schedule for our Bangkok flights to allow for smoother connections to our European network. New departure times are at 00:45 local time from Helsinki and at 22:35 local time from Bangkok.

Flight changes and cancellations are updated to the PNRs and we also communicate directly to customers who have bookings that are affected by these changes. In case of flight cancellation, customers can change their travel times, accept an alternative flight, or apply for a full refund for the unused ticket, please see further details here.
