Impact of the situation in Afghanistan on our flights

Hotspot
Published Updated

We have suspended operations in Afghanistan airspace for the time being. Safety is always our first priority. There’s currently a lot of uncertainty around using the Afghanistan airspace, therefore as of 16 August 2021, we have stopped using the Afghanistan airspace until further notice. This change impacts our Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket and Singapore flights. Avoiding the Afghanistan airspace may increase the flight time slightly.

We are following the situation closely and will update any new information on this page. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and will do our best to minimize the effects on you.

Flight information is up to date in GDS.

If a connecting flight is missed due to a delayed first flight, Finnair will re-route passengers to their destination. As availability of alternative flights is limited, re-routing may take time. Thank you for your patience. To discuss about other re-routing alternatives, we kindly ask you to contact our Agent Helpdesk.

You can check passenger rights: https://cms.finnair.com/resource/blob/1947626/7fff5e70f128aaed4c96776097e2d916/AY-EU-Finnair-Notice-on-Passenger-Rights-2020-EN.pdf

Customer policy for AY-operated flights (longer flight time):

  • Book with confidence -policy applies.
  • Finnair will reroute all missed connections (e.g., if BKK-HEL flight is delayed and connx flight HEL-OUL is missed)
