Finnair Plus loyalty program will enter a new era in March 2024

We announced in August that Finnair Plus program will enter a new era in 2024. We are adding new exciting benefits to the program, the program will become spend-based, and we will adopt Avios as our new loyalty currency.
We plan to implement these changes in late January 2024, and we will communicate the exact date at least one month before. Until then, customers will collect award and tier points and progress in tiers as before. With the renewal of the Finnair Plus program, many of the familiar tier benefits, rewards, and opportunities to collect and use loyalty currency will remain.
This is how to reach Finnair Plus tiers and milestones and collect Avios going forward
- With Finnair Plus program becoming spend-based, customers will collect Avios and reach tiers from the flight and travel extra purchases with Finnair based on the money spend. The money spend will be converted to tier points and Avios with a tier-specific multiplier. The multiplier will be the same for tier points and Avios, so customers will always collect the same amount of tier points and Avios from purchases with Finnair.
- We have revised the tier point limits required to reach different tiers to reflect the new spend-based earn of tier points.
- We will convert existing tier point balances in late January 2024 with a 3:2 ratio to correspond to the new tier limits. This does not require any action from customers. When the conversion is done, customers will maintain the tier they are on at the time or move one tier up. Their tier will be reviewed again at the end of their ongoing tracking period.
- Milestones will be a new benefit in Finnair Plus program, so customer will receive extra rewards when reaching certain point limits within their existing tier. Accruing milestone rewards start after the changes take effect in late January 2024.
Avios - More opportunities to collect and use loyalty currency
Avios, our new loyalty currency, will open a new world of collect-and-use opportunities in extensive Avios partners’ networks, as customers will be able to link their Finnair Plus and British Airways Executive Club accounts and transfer their Avios between these accounts. This option becomes available later in spring 2024. Current options to use loyalty currency for Finnair flights and travel extras, award flights, travel class upgrades, and Finnair Plus partners’ services will remain. Existing Finnair Plus award points will be converted to Avios with a 3:2 ratio. When switching to Avios, we will update the point prices for our products and services. On average, the prices will change with the 3:2 ratio, but some prices may increase or decrease instead of following the exact 3:2 conversion.
