Finnair expands its renewed distribution strategy to new markets

In May 2019, Finnair launched a new distribution strategy focused on NDC and Finnair direct channels in 7 markets: Finland, Germany, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom. As part of a staged approach Finnair is now expanding this strategy to new markets.

As of January 12, 2021, Finnair content may vary in different channels in all European point of commencement markets. The change will not affect travel commencing from other markets.

We see great opportunities to make distribution more efficient with the help of new distribution technology and encourage our travel agent partners to adopt NDC in order to be able to consume our new content. We value our travel agent partnerships and continue to work together with them to make sure they have access to all relevant content for their customers.

Customers increasingly use digital channels to purchase their travel. We also see the role of Finnair direct channels increasing in importance, and we want to keep exploring new ways of meeting customer expectations in digital channels. Through NDC we can enable travel agents to provide similar type of an improved shopping experience and help customers make more educated choices.
