Effects of transport worker union’s strike on Finnair flights

The Transport Worker’s Union AKT in Finland has issued a strike regarding Finnair’s cabin crew. The strike would begin on 20 November 2022 at 3 pm. local time at Helsinki and last for 24 hours until 3 pm. on 21 November 2022.   

The strike will have considerable impact on Finnair operations and unfortunately, several flights will be cancelled. We apologize for the worry and inconvenience this strike will cause our customers.  

If customer's flight is affected, Finnair will contact customer directly via SMS and/or email and PNRs will also be updated. Please make sure that customers’ contact information on bookings is up to date. 

In case the new schedule is not suitable for customer, you can

Change the travel date/time once to another AY-flight to same destination allowed, -2/+2 days from the original date with the following instructions:

1. Itinerary including AY flights only: Rebooking in same RBD or lowest available in same cabin. No rerouting to other carriers allowed. 
2. Itinerary on the same 105-ticket including AY flights and flights operated by another airline (OAL): rebook to same destination only, rebook OAL flights to original route and AY to original RBD or lowest available in same cabin. No rerouting to other carriers allowed. 

Ticket must be updated as involuntary reissue using I indicator in front of the fare calculation on the reissued ticket (I indicator referring to involuntary change taking place 2 days or less before departure). INVOL REROUTE must be added in the endorsement. 

Cancel and refund the ticket directly in your own GDS or if that is not possible, process refund via BSP/ARC (refund of ancillary services on EMDs to be processed via BSPlink refund application).

If you rebook or cancel 

One of the following OS elements must be entered in the booking: OS AY CHANGE DUE TO AKT STRIKE for changes or alternatively in case of refund OS AY REFUND DUE TO AKT STRIKE. 

Separate waiver code is not needed; the SSR INVOL element in the booking acts as your waiver.
