Changing a Light ticket with “Book with confidence” change rule after 5th of July

Our exceptional “Book with confidence” change policy, which was put in place at the start of the pandemic and was valid for tickets sold until 31^st of May 2022, allows one more free change even after 31^st of May, also for the Light tickets.

As announced in September 2021, our Light ticket type has been removed from the GDS Edifact distribution channel starting from 5^th of July 2022.

This means that, as the Light fare/ticket type is not accessible in the GDS Edifact channel anymore, you need to follow these special guidelines to perform that one last change granted for Light tickets (based on the "Book with confidence" exceptional change rule).

There can be three scenarios:

1. Change of a completely unused or partially used Light ticket to a flight where the original booking class (RBD) is available
   -> Book the new flight(s) in the original booking class and revalidate the ticket.
2. Change of a partially used Light ticket to a flight where the original RBD is not available
   -> Book the new flight(s) to the lowest possible booking class and use your GDS’s automatic ticket change functionality to reissue the ticket (historical Light fare will be used, fare difference to be collected).
3. Change of a completely unused Light ticket to a flight where the original RBD is not available
   -> Unfortunately, there are no automated steps to make this change, but you have three options to service the customer and make the change:
   a.    Book the new flight(s) to the next available booking class and manually price the booking by using historical Light fares from 1st of July 2022. Fare difference is to be collected. OS AY BWC01JUL22 must be added to the booking as the “waiver code”. Reissue the ticket. This option is valid until 31^st Dec 2022.
   b.    Make the change or guide the customer to make the change themselves on our website at www.finnair.com/en/manage as we have exceptionally enabled voluntary changes to tickets sold by a travel agent on or before 31^st of May 2022.
   c.     If you are unable to manually price or are unable to make the voluntary change on our website, please contact our agent info, we are happy to help you.

Please note that even if a lower RBD is available for the new flight(s), it is not allowed to change to a lower RBD.

These guidelines do not apply to tickets sold in NDC channel; the Light fare is accessible in NDC channel even after 5^th of July and you are able to service the tickets just like before.

This affects Light tickets in Finnair’s own network (flights originating from Europe) and flights to Shanghai/Japan.
Light tickets on flights to/from North America (Atlantic Joint Business) are not affected.
