1 PC = one piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 23kg and external dimensions 90cm x 75cm x 45cm. A piece of special baggage, for example, a musical instrument that fits in these measures can also be regarded as one piece of checked baggage.

Children

Children’s tickets include the same baggage allowance for checked baggage as adults in the same travel class. An infant’s (0–2-year-old child) checked baggage allowance includes one piece of checked baggage weighing a maximum of 23kg (50lb). In addition, children and infants are always allowed to have a foldable pushchair and safety seat, even when travelling with an Economy Light or Economy Superlight ticket that does not include checked baggage.

Larger pushchairs are carried as checked baggage free of charge. If a pushchair can be disassembled, it should be separated into two parts. Each part must be packed in plastic bags or some other form of protection.

Finnair Plus and oneworld members

Finnair Plus Gold, Platinum and Platinum Lumo members can take one additional checked bag (23kg) on flights operated and marketed by Finnair. Silver members are entitled to a 50% discount on the extra checked bag (23kg) fee. The discount only applies to purchases made through Finnair digital channels or customer service for Finnair operated and marketed flights. The discount is not available for purchases at the airport.

Finnair Plus Gold, Platinum and Platinum Lumo members and oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members can take one additional bag on oneworld marketed flights operated by Finnair.

In addition, Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members are allowed to take a set of golf, skiing or diving equipment on flights operated and marketed by Finnair.

Additional baggage

If passenger would like to take more bags than what is included in his/her checked baggage allowance, extra bag fees will be collected.

When all the flights in the itinerary are operated by Finnair, passenger can pay in advance for up to eight additional bags. Travel agencies can charge the fee with EMD-A.

MORE ON ADDITIONAL BAGGAGE

Oversized or heavy baggage

A heavy bag fee applies to baggage with a weight between 23 and 32kg and/or when a bag exceeds the maximum dimensions of 90cm x 75cm x 45cm. The heavy bag fee can be paid while making the booking online, in Manage booking or at the airport.

Some special items, for example wheelchairs, some sports equipment and large musical instruments, exceeding the maximum measures may be accepted with a prior approval from the airline. Kindly check further details in Easy’s Special Baggage section.

All other baggage exceeding the maximum measures or weight (with the exception of pet containers) can only be transported as cargo.

Baggage allowance on other airlines’ flights

Baggage allowances and regulations may vary depending on the airline.

If the ticket includes flights operated by other airlines, IATA standards of the Most Significant Marketing Carrier (MSMC) define which airline’s baggage regulations apply for the journey. If the geographically longest or most significant flight of the journey is not marketed by Finnair, but by another airline, this airline’s rules also apply to Finnair flights.

The baggage allowance is always shown on the ticket. Please contact the operating airline for more information.
