Special baggage

In case special baggage is within the size and weight of a standard bag, the items can be carried as part of the normal baggage allowance.

If special baggage weighs between 23 and 32kg, a heavy-bag charge will be applied. Bags heavier than 32kg must be transported as cargo.

In case special baggage exceed the maximum dimensions (190cm x 75cm x 65cm), a prior approval is needed from the airline. A fixed rate will be collected at the airport. Please see prices at Finnair.com.

Customers may carry wheelchairs and other mobility aids (e.g. bag of spare tires for wheelchair, shower chairs, special mattresses) free of charge. SSR-request with relevant WCH info is needed. For mobility aids, SR MOBA with free text shall be used.

Cabin baggage

Additional cabin baggage may be booked when a passenger is requesting an instrument or other special item to be transported in the cabin.

Heavy and oversized baggage

Heavy and oversized baggage is usually anything larger or heavier than standard baggage and is booked as specific baggage type based on the measurements.

Musical instruments

Depending on their size, musical instruments are carried either in the cabin or in the hold of the aircraft.

Firearms and ammunition

Weapons and ammunition for sporting and hunting purposes are carried as checked baggage with a special permission from the airline.
