Effects of Finnish Aviation Union’s strike on Finnair flights on 2 December 2024
Operational news
The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) has announced an illegal walk-out in the ground operations at Helsinki Airport. According to IAU's announcement, the illegal walk-out will take place today, Monday 2 December 2024 in the afternoon. Ground operations employees work, for example, in aircraft maintenance, catering, customer service tasks at Helsinki Airport and ground handling tasks in baggage loading.
This illegal walk-out will have a significant impact on Finnair's flights and causes flight delays and cancellations. Also flight catering, baggage and cargo loading and unloading will be impacted. It is possible that some of the operated flights cannot be loaded with meals or baggage.
If a customer’s journey is disrupted, Finnair will update the PNR/ticket and contact the customer personally via SMS and/or e-mail. To receive Finnair’s messages, please make sure that customers’ contact information on bookings is up to date.
We do our best to re-route our customers to their destinations as soon as possible if flights have to be cancelled.
If the new schedule is unsuitable for the customer, the SSR OTHS INVOL element in the booking permits one further free involuntary change and/or cancellation as per the guidelines below.
For bookings made via NDC: same policy applies and for booking handling contact our Agent Help Desk. The smoothest option for contacting is by clicking on the chat icon at the bottom right corner of the page (select NDC Support) for the change or cancellation.
