oneworld fares

oneworld alliance gives customers access to flights to more than 900 destinations globally. There are three different types of Round The World fares available: oneworld Explorer, Global Explorer and Circle Pacific.

Booking in a nutshell

  • Travelling has to take place with oneworld airlines and specific affiliate airlines
  • Travelling has to be all the time onwards e. g backtracking is not allowed between the continents. Within continents backtracking is allowed.
  • 3-16 flight segments per booking, ground segments are also counted
  • Fares are available in economy, business and first class. The availability of business and first cabins is restricted on some airlines and routes.
  • oneworld fares do not auto-price in GDS Edifact so travel agency must check that all booking requirements are met while pricing manually

oneworld Explorer: a continent-based fare

oneworld Explorer is one of the most popular, simple, flexible and best-value round-the-world fares available on the market. Prices are based on class of travel and, uniquely, the number of continents visited, rather than mileage of the overall trip. This keeps planning as simple as possible. Besides the online booking facility, oneworld.com also features a useful ‘itinerary planning’ tool for oneworld Explorer

Pricing: the fares can be recognized by fare basis including ONE, eg DONE3 for business class for 3 continents. Example of Amadeus pricing command would be FXP/S2RW/L-DONE3 and fare display accessed with FQDHELHEL/VRW. Please consult your GDS for further instructions. Round-the-world fares are not yet supported in NDC.

Global Explorer: a distance-based fare

Global Explorer is another round-the-world fare, which includes some airlines that are not part of oneworld, extending the choice of destinations further (see oneworld.com for specific airline listing). Unlike oneworld Explorer, the cost of Global Explorer tickets is based on the distance flown, rather than the number of continents visited.

Pricing: the fares can be recognized by fare basis including GLOB, eg DGLOB34 for business class with maximum mileage of 34 000. Example of Amadeus pricing command would be FXP/S2RW/L- DGLOB34 and fare display accessed with FQDHELHEL/VRW. Please consult your GDS for further instructions. Round-the-world fares are not yet supported in NDC.

Circle Pacific: an inter-continental journey to explore continents that border the Pacific Ocean

To visit multiple continents without actually flying all the way around the world, the Circle Pacific fare lets passengers explore the continents that border the Pacific Ocean. The journey must start and finish in one of the following continents:

  • Asia (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam)
  • Southwest Pacific (Australia and New Zealand)
  • North America (USA and Canada)
  • South America

Finnair does not participate in routings on Circle Pacific journeys so please consult one of the partner oneworld carriers in the region for more information.
