Payment method processing fees

Payment method processing fees (aka surcharges) are collected across the industry to cover the costs of payment methods. Finnair collects payment method processing fees in various markets in accordance with the EU Regulation 2015/751. The fees are based on POC (point of commencement) of the journey and are added to the total amount of the ticket (first issued ticket including fees and taxes) automatically as an OB FCA (credit card) or OB FDA (debit card) fee during ticketing.

Finnair collects payment method processing fees from Finnair tickets (105), also if there are included codeshare or interline partner flights. The same fees apply regardless for one way or return tickets, child tickets, corporate fares and group bookings. 

Note, that OB fees are not shown on the ticket with standard taxes and charges but are added to the Electronic Ticket/Itinerary Receipt and automatically reported to BSP. It is shown as a part of the Grand Total of TST in Amadeus, and in other GDS with ticket dedicated pricing details. For customers the payment fee is to be displayed separately on the receipt.

In case of refunds, the fee amount is refunded when the ticket is fully refundable (no refund penalties are collected). Currently the industry standard does not allow the travel agencies to refund any OB fees. In these situations, the airline should be contacted using Refund Application in BSP link. 

Cases when fee is not collected:

• Infant tickets without seats
• Ancillary sales (seats, meals, baggage etc.)
• Exchanges and fees
