Carry-on baggage

The carry-on baggage shall not exceed the size and weight limits specified below. If there is more baggage than allowed, the bag is too large or too heavy, it will be sent to the hold of the aircraft and a surcharge will be charged.

Carry-on baggage allowance

Business Class passengers:

  • one carry-on bag, maximum dimensions 55cm x 40cm x 23cm (22in x 16in x 9in)
  • one small bag such as a handbag, a small laptop bag or backpack that must be placed under the seat in front, maximum dimensions 40cm x 30cm x 15cm (16in x 12in x 6in)
  • maximum combined weight 12kg (26lb.)

Premium Economy Class passengers: 

  • one carry-on bag, maximum dimensions 55cm x 40cm x 23cm (22in x 16in x 9in)
  • one small bag such as a handbag, a small laptop bag or backpack that must be placed under the seat in front, maximum dimensions 40cm x 30cm x 15cm (16in x 12in x 6in)
  • maximum combined weight 8kg (17.5lb.) 

Economy Class passengers with a Light, Classic or Flex ticket:

  • one carry-on bag, maximum dimensions 55cm x 40cm x 23cm (22in x 16in x 9in)
  • one small bag such as a handbag, a small laptop bag or backpack that must be placed under the seat in front, maximum dimensions 40cm x 30cm x 15cm (16in x 12in x 6in)
  • maximum combined weight 8kg (17.5lb.)
  • infants without a reserved seat: no allowance

Economy Class passengers with a Superlight ticket:

  • one small bag such as a handbag, a small laptop bag or backpack that must be placed under the seat in front, maximum dimensions 40cm x 30cm x 15cm (16in x 12in x 6in)
  • maximum weight 8kg (17.5lb)

Customer may bring necessary assistive devices or mobility aids, such as personal oxygen concentrators (POC), apnea breathing devices (CPAP), canes or elbow crutches, into the cabin with them in addition to the carry-on baggage allowance included in their ticket.

Musical instruments with dimensions that do not exceed the normal carry-on baggage can be taken on board as part of the allowed carry-on baggage.

Any items purchased at the airport, including duty free products, are part of carry-on baggage allowance. If the allowance is exceeded, the passenger may have to check in their extra bags and pay for any applicable charges.

In certain cases, due to the limited space on board, we may have to ask the passenger to check in their carry-on baggage. This is in the interests of their own and other passengers' safety and comfort.

Restricted items

Prohibited items 

The following items are not allowed in the cabin: 

  • Sharp objects such as knives, scissors, corkscrews and tweezers 
  • Skates are allowed when departing from Helsinki, but other destinations might have restrictions 
  • Matches and lighters 
  • Ammunition 
  • Camping stoves and fuel containers 
  • Permeation devices 
  • Lithium-ion batteries over 100Wh (watt-hours). 
    100-160Wh lithium batteries allowed in carry-on bags only with airline approval (max 2 per passenger). 
  • Lithium metal batteries containing over 2 grams of lithium. 
    2-8g lithium batteries allowed in carry-on bags, only with airline approval (max 2 per passenger).

Liquids

Carry-on baggage may include:

  • Liquids in containers of max. 100ml packed in a single, transparent, re-sealable 1-litre plastic bag.
  • Medicines, baby milk and baby food enough for the whole journey. The passenger may be asked for proof of authenticity.
  • Duty-free goods in a sealed security bag. The item and the receipt must remain sealed inside the security bag provided at the time of purchase.

Liquids are presented separately from other carry-on baggage for screening at the airport security check.
